Matrix gas flow through “impermeable” rocks – shales and tight sandstone

چکیده

Abstract. The effective pressure sensitivity of gas flow through two shales (Bowland and Haynesville shales) a tight sandstone (Pennant sandstone) was measured over the typical range reservoir conditions. These are low-permeability rocks such as can be exploited cap above reservoirs that might developed to store compressed air, methane, or hydrogen bury waste carbon dioxide, all which may become important components forthcoming major changes in methods energy generation storage. Knowledge petrophysical properties will great importance developments. All three display only small log10 permeability at low pressures, but these decrease dramatically different rates with increasing pressure, rate itself decreases stiffen. bulk moduli each also used formulate description terms progressive closure narrow, crack-like pores pressure. In case particular, very proportion total porosity takes part gases, particularly along bedding layering.

Tight Gas Sandstone Reservoirs , Part 1 : Overview and Lithofacies 14

Although shale gas plays have been in the spotlight recently, natural gas in tight sandstones is actually also an important hydrocarbon resource. In many cases, tight gas sandstone resources can be developed more easily than shale gas reservoirs as the rocks generally have higher quartz content, and are more brittle and easier to complete for production. This chapter first gives an overview of ...

Pseudo Steady State Gas Flow in Tight Reservoir under Dual Mechanism Flow

Gas reservoirs with low permeability (k<0.1 mD) are among the unconventional reservoirs and are commonly termed as "Tight Gas Reservoirs". In conventional gas reservoirs that have high permeability, the flow of gas is basically controlled by the reservoir permeability and it is calculated using the Darcy equation. In these reservoirs, gas flow due to gas diffusion is ignored compared to Dar...

Vp-Vs ratio sensitivity to pressure, fluid, and lithology changes in tight gas sandstones

Low Vp/Vs anomalies can assist in prospect identification in tight gas sandstone reservoirs, because they are related to good quality rocks (sandstones with low clay content), presence of gas, and overpressure conditions. In such rocks, gas saturation lowers Vp/Vs and the effect is larger if the gas is overpressured. On the other hand, with water saturation, Vp/Vs increases and the effect is en...

Pore Structure and Limit Pressure of Gas Slippage Effect in Tight Sandstone

Gas slip effect is an important mechanism that the gas flow is different from liquid flow in porous media. It is generally considered that the lower the permeability in porous media is, the more severe slip effect of gas flow will be. We design and then carry out experiments with the increase of backpressure at the outlet of the core samples based on the definition of gas slip effect and in vie...

Gas flow through aerogels

Aerogels have an extraordinarily large internal surface area which is accessible via open pores, making them candidates for filters and gas adsorption media. The idea is frequently included in lists of potential applications, but little research has been conducted on the use of aerogels as filters or adsorption media. Consideration of aerogels for use as aerosol collection media requires knowle...
